Recently I researched all the tools that Google has to offer. I was surprised by the number of tools that Google has to offer that I was not aware of. So I would like to share some of these tools with you. These tools can help you collaboratively work on an assignment with colleagues or students. They can help you stay organized as well as make your space personal. My personal favorite is Gmail. I went from an AOL account to a Gmail account and loved it. I will never use anything but Gmail.. so I say now.
Tools:
- Gmail - free email account with lots of space to saved and organize emails
- Gtalk/Gchat - offered through your Gmail account to make it easy to conference with other Gmail users
- Gcalendar - easily keep track of important dates
- Bogger - free blogging site that is linked to your Gmail account
- Igoogle - personalize your homepage on any browser page with customizable gadgets
- Google Docs - collaboratively create a single version of a document
- Google Spreedsheets - collaboratively create spreedsheets that you can share with anyone
- Google Drawings - Draw and share
- SideWiki - available with Google Chrome 4.0+
The best part is so many of these can be used in the classroom for the teacher or with the students to complete assignments. These help to bring you into the 2.0 world.

I have to say that I too enjoy the gtools and I see lots of ways that they could be used in the classroom. I wonder if Google Docs would be a good application to use in the Spanish language classroom. How would I use it? I'm sure that Google Drawings could be of use in a Math classroom. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteThat is a very good point. I did not think of using Google Drawings in the classroom for the purposes of teaching Math. I will look into it though. You could use Google Docs to have students elaborate on definitions or write journal entries back and forth to each other in spanish. I'm sure there are others but that is what I can think of at the moment.
